Ranking the Cities Based on their Liveability

A City Liveability Index was launched the Union Urban Development Ministry to rank cities based on the quality of life they provide for their residents.

• The index will rank 116 cities of the country.
• They include State capitals, cities under Smart Cities Mission and cities with over 10 lakh population.
• For the ranking, cities will be assessed on 79 parameters.
• They include governance, education, water supply,health,reduced pollution, identity and culture, solid waste management, housing, open spaces, land use, energy,etc.
