Fake news and hacking are the buzz word of present day world. People, elections and governments are swayed under the power of its flow. Take the recent US presidential elections. The U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence has recently released a declassified report stating that there was Russian influence and foreign hacking involved in tilting the electoral results in the favor of Donald Trump. But we need to acknowledge that his victory is also rooted in domestic politics including the anti-immigrant attitudes of an angry middle class and economic woes of the country. Information, internet and social media has combined to form a potent mix in the digital universe of 21st century democracies.
