Rediscovering the grand old party
The decline of the Indian National Congress has been often been blamed on its vice-president Rahul Gandhi s leadership. With the rising clout and power of BJP sweeping state after state under its fold, there is a of course a need for Congress to find its weak points and reinvent itself. The Grand Old Party with the history of being headed by stalwarts like Nehru, Gandhi cannot be down and out so easily. Holding onto its secular character, it should find the threads that still link it to the hearts of people and build on them. It needs to first find its faith and confidence in itself and then attract the people of India to itself.
