The revolution that made an upset victory
The world stand trumped. Donald Trump was elected as 45th President of the United States of America bolting a shock wave across the country and the world in its wake. This is the victory no one anticipated. The polls, predictions seem way off the mark now given that they constantly displayed the reassuring lead of democrat Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in contrast to flamboyant, a misogynist, xenophobe, real estate mogul to reality TV star and now President - Donald Trump. All the calculations seem to have gone awry. But was the analysis done rightly? It seems Donald Trump successfully managed to tap into the public discontent in lower-middle class voters living in the rural interiors of the United States. In contrast to his divisive speeches and xenophobic posture, his acceptance speech as President of United States was surprisingly humble and inclusive as he said to the world, “I want to tell the world community that while we will always put America s interests first, we will deal fairly with everyone... all people and all other nations”. This victory looks like a revolution, a social movement in making. What this Presidential victory means for US and world in future remains to be seen.
