Tell me something about yourself

I am Mr. Ameet Kumar; got 41st rank in 2009 Civil Services Exam. My education upto class 12th is from Bihar Sharif (Nalanda), B.Sc. from T.S. Chanakya with 2-3 years of job experience in foreign going ships as 2nd mate officer. After that I started preparing for this exam in Delhi and got success in my first attempt.

What was the main driving force behind you choosing IAS as a career?
I see IAS as the best instrument to serve the society and our country.

Whom do you credit your success?
My parents, elder brother and my friends in Delhi with whom I was doing my preparation

What was your strategy for this attempt?
From the first day of preparation, I focused on the mains exam.

What was your planning for Mains G.S.?
My main focus was on the Newspaper (The Hindu), Civil Services Chronicle monthly magazine and Yojana.

What were your optional subjects?
First one is Geography and second one is Public Administration.

What was your plan for handling essay?
Focus on the introduction and conclusion part and maintain a chain in between. Study of newspaper editorials and Yojana helped me a lot.

What do you want to say to the lakhs of student who aspire to be an IAS officer?
Put your honest effort with positive attitude towards yourself, your society and your country. This will make you confident and will lead you success. All the best to you all.
