Ravi Dhawan (6th Rank)

"I also had internet as a source but was also cautious to cull out genuine and reliable information there from."

What were your optional subjects? Give the basis of selecting them.

Ravi Dhawan :
My Optionals were Commerce and Public Administration. I decided to choose Commerce since I had done B.Com. (H) and as you  know Public Administration has a great relevance for a Civil Servant.

List some of the Magazines, Newspapers, Books, etc. Which you read for 'General Studies' preparation.

Ravi Dhawan: For Prelims and Mains I depended on Civil Services Chronicle, Yojana and The Hindu.

For General Studies, one needs to be thorough in the Indian Constitution, Economy, Current Affairs and Science and Technology. The Civil Services examination requires a different perspective. Since there are diverse topics which one has to prepare, one should have crystal clear conceptions without  any ambiguity in mind.

Any suggestion/advice you would like to give to the future aspirants.

Ravi Dhawan: Just stay focused and have faith in you. Be regular and sincere to your preparations.

Last word of advice for those who are aspiring for the Civil Services?

Ravi Dhawan : Just stay focused and remain self-confident. Do what you can diligently and the rest will fall in place.
