You are here: Toppers Talk
Suchita Kishore (39th Rank)

Tell us something about your journey to success.

Suchita: It was my third attempt. In my previous attempt I appeared for the interview. A persistent effort is required to achieve success.

How did you prepare for the examination?

Suchita: I focussed on the present trend and the kind of questions which are being asked and prepared accordingly.

What were your optionals? How did you prepare for the same?

Suchita: My optionals were Political Science and English literature.

Despite having a background in English literature students refrains from opting this as an optional. How can you boost up their morale so that they could also opt for the same?

Suchita: I think fear is undue. These days’ students are scoring well in English literature. With right kind of guidance one can fetch good marks.

What books and magazines did you study?

Suchita: Along with the prescribed books for optionals I read mainly The Hindu and Civil Services Chronicle.

Now Preliminary Exam is in new format. UPSC has named new paper as G.S (Paper-II). What is your suggestion to tackle these changes?

Suchita: Definitely (as the name suggests) G.S (paper-II) can be fared well with a solid foundation in paper-It's all about the mental agility and correct decision making which can be honed up with correct mentorship. For the beginners I will suggest to choose the institute who can understand the new changes well and has adapted themselves to the present need.

Your suggestions to the budding aspirants.

Suchita: Work hard. Stick to time limit. Keep track of current trends and success will be yours.
